Who we are

ACTIVE AFRICA is an NGO (non-Government Organisation) founded by a group of women who became aware of the critical situation of poverty suffered by the countries of Central and East Africa. As a consequence, they decided to set up in Spain this organisation with the aim of helping them as much as possible.

Active Africa was founded in May 2004, as a result of a three-month stay in Malawi's St. Mary's Rehabilitation Centre. The missionaries of Maria Mediadora give shelter and care to 160 HIV/Aid's orphans. And they are not the only ones who benefit. Likewise, they give practical support and direct help to 500 orphans and, also to 500 elderly people from the surroundings, owing the only existing health centre of 50 places for over kilometre...
